Running for Our Wounded Warriors |
104.8 miles, 1 day, 1 great cause |
Purpose:
This year I am running the Boston Marathon 4 times (104.8 miles) to raise money for a cause that affects each and every American. Shortly after September 11th it would have been very difficult to find a car, a house or a place of work that didn't display their patriotism, their support of our troops, in one form or another. There were flags flying everywhere. Bumper stickers and magnets proudly displayed on the cars. Outsiders, terrorists, threatened our way of life and every American pulled together.
I know that the patriotism that we saw shortly after September 11th is still in each and every American. We, as a nation, are proud of our country but most importantly we are proud of the men and women that put their lives on hold, put their lives on the line, to protect this umbrella of freedom that, at times, we take for granted. Let's not wait for another outside threat or attack to demonstrate to these young men and women that they are not forgotten.
The Cause:
The Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) is a nonprofit corporation that provides comfort and aid to the most severely injured service men and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. WWP's federal ID number for donations is: #20-2370934. They continuously strive to keep administrative and fundraising costs associated with the operation of Wounded Warrior Project as low as possible. $.79 of every dollar donated goes to provide services and programs for our wounded warriors and their families.

How You Can Help:
